Monthly statistics over all time - FNMOC model
Comparison of the current year (coloured areas) with the reference period (1991-2020). Stroke line is the mean of the reference period and the grey shadow area comprises the values between the 5 and 95 percentiles.
The FNMOC model has a longer data series than NAVGEM. However, FNMOC data only provides complete months, unlike NAVGEM which has data up to 3 days before the current date. For this reason, we use NAVGEM for the last few days and FNMOC to compare to a reference period. Note also that different reference periods mean different climate normals. Since January 2022, the most recent normal period of 1991–2020 has been used in accordance with WMO recommendations.
